For example, Instant Messaging and file sharing programs can provide a malicious user with a method of transferring a Trojan Horse virus. This section of the ITS web site provides a current list of these programs. FTP and telnet protocols may be used only with specific approval of the IT staff. Other programs that consume significant resources or affect PC performance may also be prohibited on a case-by-case basis. This list is continuously growing and changing.

Restricted Progams List
• File Sharing/P2P applications such as (but not limited to): KAZAA and Limewire
• Morpheus
• AOL, Yahoo, MSN , ICQ/IRC or any other Instant Messenger or chat system
• Napster or Gnutella or any other music sharing application
• Game websites and Gaming Software are expressly restricted on
state-owned
computers. This includes Texas Hold 'Em, Poker, Fantasy Football, games on
Facebook and other types of games.
• Internet Radio (any version and any website). This includes but is not
limited to:
Abacast client, Spinner, Pandora and WinAmp.
• Phynd
• Unauthorized network utilities/hacker tools
• eDonkey
• Gator (This application is inundated with adware and spyware)
• Weatherbug
• Unauthorized, non-business related live internet feeds
• Non work-related video clips. Be especially mindfull of all copyrighted materials. This includes, but is not limited to, movie trailors, video jokes, etc.

Recommend against using these programs
• Third party screen savers must be approved by ITS prior to download and/or installation. These applications can be very resource intensive and cause PC performance issues. For example, Web Shots may have some very nice photos, but it has been known to cause significant PC application issues.

• Outlook Stationary
