Richard Bland College of William & Mary 2017 Pecan Festival Expands

October 28-29, 2017

Richard Bland College of William & Mary is expanding its 2nd Annual Pecan Festival following the overwhelming success of last year’s event. The 2017 Pecan Festival will be held on Saturday, October 28 from 10:00am – 5:00pm and on Sunday from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

“The event is expanding to two days because of the amazing attendance at last year’s festival,” said Jamie Camp, Richard Bland College Associate Director of Auxiliary Enterprises. “Last year’s festival welcomed over 7,500 people to Richard Bland College, the largest number of visitors to experience an on-campus event in college history.”

The 2017 Pecan Festival will offer more food, drink, crafts, children’s activities, entertainment and music. The popular Richmond-based Trongone Band, which performs a mixture of southern Rock ‘n’ Soul and American Jam is the headlining band. The Remnants will be performing for the second year, and Sweet Justice and Susan Greenbaum will make their first appearances at the festival. The grove will be packed with vendors selling products ranging from homemade salsa, fine soaps, jewelry, baked goods and clothing.

Family-themed entertainment includes a kids’ zone (petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin carving and painting), three pecan pageants and a pecan cook-off.

With nearly 1,000 pecan trees situated on its 750+ acre campus, Richard Bland College of William & Mary is home to the oldest and largest pecan grove in Virginia.

Admission to the Pecan Festival is free.  For more information, visit www.rbc.edu/pecan-festival.
