Richard Bland College offers academically rigorous programs grounded in the liberal arts tradition of William & Mary, providing a solid foundation for transfer to 4-year colleges and universities.

By attending Richard Bland College and earning an Associate Degree, you will have completed the first two years toward the Baccalaureate Degree.

Richard Bland College has guaranteed transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities across the Commonwealth that will enhance your educational opportunities. The Board of Visitors of William & Mary has authorized Richard Bland College to confer Associate degrees designed for transfer to four-year institutions in Virginia and throughout the United States.

  • Associate of Arts Degree (A.A.) (CIP Code: 24.0101)

    • The Associate of Arts Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of the arts, humanities, or the behavioral and social sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Science Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter.

       


      GENERAL ASSOCIATE of ARTS DEGREE

      The College offers a traditional generalist degree incorporating the Core and significant breadth across discipline.

  • Associate of Science Degree (A.S.) (CIP Code: 40.0101)

    • The Associate of Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of education, business, health professions, social work, engineering, or one of the natural sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Arts Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter. There is no foreign language requirement to earn this degree.

  • Associate of Science Degree - Behavioral Sciences (A.S.-Behavioral Science) (CIP Code: 30.17 01)

    • The Associate of Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of education, business, health professions, social work, engineering, or one of the natural sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Arts Degree may be more appropriate.

      The Associate of Science – Behavioral Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of sociology, psychology, social services, and counseling.  Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Science Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter. There is no foreign language requirement to earn this degree.

  • Associate of Science Degree - Business Administration (A.S.-Business Administration) (CIP Code: 52.0201)

    • The Associate of Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of education, business, health professions, social work, engineering, or one of the natural sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Arts Degree may be more appropriate.

      The Associate of Science – Business Administration Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Science Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter. There is no foreign language requirement to earn this degree.

  • Associate of Science Degree – Math/Computer Science (A.S.-Math/Computer Science) (CIP Code: 30.0801)

    • The Associate of Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of education, business, health professions, social work, engineering, or one of the natural sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Arts Degree may be more appropriate.

      The Associate of Science – Math/Computer Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees to pursue jobs related to information analysis, information systems management, and other applied quantitative fields. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Science Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter.  There is no foreign language requirement to this degree.

  • Associate of Science Degree – Physical Science (A.S.-Physical Science) (CIP Code: 40.0101)

    • The Associate of Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of education, business, health professions, social work, engineering, or one of the natural sciences. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Arts Degree may be more appropriate.       The Associate of Science-Physical Science degree is appropriate for prospective majors in Chemistry and Physics.

    • The Associate of Science-Clinical Lab Science degree is designed for students interested in careers and majors in Forensic Science, Allied Health and related fields, Medical/Clinical Lab Technology, Medical Research, or even Medical Sales.

Consistent with its focus on the first two years of a transferable liberal arts education, Richard Bland College does not offer programs directly leading to professional licensure. At this time, Richard Bland College has not determined, or is unable to determine, whether the Associate in Science and Associate in Arts programs entirely meet the educational requirements for any licensure in the states/territories listed below. Students should consult with the appropriate licensing board to verify requirements for licensure in these states/territories.
