Richard Bland College Announces 3rd Annual Pecan Festival

DUE TO THE WEATHER FORECAST, THE PECAN FESTIVAL ON OCT. 27 IS CANCELED

Richard Bland College of William & Mary invites all to attend the College’s 3rd Annual Pecan Festival on Saturday, October 27 from 11am to 5pm. Bring your family and friends to the Grove on RBC’s beautiful campus to celebrate the pecan with a day of entertainment, fine food and drink. There will be a special pecan beer for tasting from Trapezium Brewing Company, along with other specialty beers and wines.

Festival-goers will be able to take part in craft activities, face painting, games, bounce houses, and the Prince George Animal Control Department will be offering on-site adoptions. New this year, the Pecan Festival has added hayrides, giving attendees a tour of the grounds. More than 200 vendors will be on-site with products ranging from homemade pecan foods, fine soaps, jewelry, baked goods and clothing.

Main stage bands include The Remnants from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and Sweet Justice from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.

There is no charge for admission or parking. For a full list of vendors and musical performances, visit http://www.rbc.edu/pecan-festival/.

“The Pecan Festival is held each year to support RBC students and the community, while helping to grow tourism in Virginia,” said Jamie Camp, Event Coordinator.

Richard Bland College is home to the oldest & largest pecan groves in Virginia. There are nearly 1,000 pecan trees on the grounds. Each year the pecans are harvested and proceeds used to advance student success and maintain the groves.
