RBC To Host Public Hearing On Tuition & Mandatory Fees

The Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary will host a public hearing April 19, 2021 on the proposed tuition and mandatory fees for continuing and incoming in-state, out-of-state undergraduate students for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Section 23.1-307 (D) of the Code of Virginia requires that 30 days prior to approval of any increases in tuition and mandatory fees, the boards of visitors of Virginia’s higher education institutions must announce the range of increases under consideration, an explanation of the need for such increase, and allow for public comment. William & Mary’s Board of Visitors approved the RBC guidelines for receiving public comment at its February 2020 meeting.  Richard Bland College is governed by the William & Mary Board of Visitors.

The virtual hearing allowing for public comment will take place via Zoom from 9:00 am – 9:45 am on April 19, details for the virtual hearing will be available at www.rbc.edu. It will include a presentation by the administration, and also time for comments from the general public. In addition to participating in the public hearing, members of the public can also comment on the proposed fee increase via an online form.

Public comments will be shared with the Board of Visitors in advance of its April 2021 meeting during which the vote will be conducted to set the tuition and mandatory fees for continuing and incoming in-state and out-of-state undergraduate and transfer students admitted to the college for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The Board of Visitors will consider mandatory auxiliary fee increases ranging from 0% to 3% to offset direct costs.

The April meeting of the Board of Visitors will be held on April 23 in Hunter Hall, located at 262 Richmond Road. More information on the Board meeting will be released next month in accordance with the university’s normal schedule of announcing public meetings.
