RBC Representatives Selected to the William & Mary Board of Visitors
Richard Bland College of William & Mary President Debbie L. Sydow has announced that Dr. Tiffany Birdsong, Assistant Professor of Psychology and second-year student Sarah Moncure, have been appointed by the William and Mary Board of Visitors as the Faculty Representative and Student Representative for the 2020-21 academic year.
Dr. Birdsong, who has been appointed to a second one-year term, has been an Assistant Professor of Psychology at RBC since 2015. Dr. Birdsong earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a minor in business from Manhattan College. She earned her Master of Arts and Doctoral degrees from LaSalle (PA) University. Prior to joining RBC Dr. Birdsong worked as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in a variety of treatment settings.
In 2019 Dr. Birdsong became Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence in 2017 and has served Chair of the Faculty Assembly for two consecutive terms and currently serves as Chair of the Instructional Programs and Curriculum Committee.
“It was a pleasure to serve as faculty representative to the Board of Visitors for the 2019-20 academic year, said Dr. Birdsong. “The Board has continued to provide enthusiastic support for our students and I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the RBC faculty on the Board this academic year.”
Ms. Moncure is a sophomore honor student from Fredericksburg and a Resident Assistant on campus. She is enrolled in the prestigious Promise Scholars program, an innovative collaboration with William & Mary that is designed to ease transfer from RBC to W&M for high-ability, Virginia residents who are eligible for a Pell Grant. She plans to major in International Relations at William & Mary.
“I am looking forward to representing my peers and Richard Bland to the Board of Visitors,” Moncure says. “I am incredibly thankful for this honor and ready to fulfill my responsibility to the best of my abilities.”
