Richard Bland College of William & Mary (RBC) student Michael Mason was among the scholars selected for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Out of roughly 1,800 applications from more than 380 community colleges across the country, Mason was among the 60 finalists selected.
“I am honored to be a Cooke Scholar,” Mason said. “Thanks to the James Kent Cooke Foundation, my tuition and expenses at Amherst College are completely covered.
“I would also like to thank RBC faculty and staff for supporting me over the last two years to help me achieve my dreams and propel me toward my goals. The RBC community will always have a special place in my heart.”
Mason will graduate from RBC this week and attend Amherst College in the fall.
The Cooke scholarship bridges the gap by providing crucial support for transfer students to overcome barriers and successfully attain their bachelor’s degrees.
